Hobbit Homes for all

I wanted to share with you all this amazing home that was constructed in Wales.  It was constructed by Simons Dale with the assistance of his Father in law, family, friends, and some small day labors. The home was built into the hillside creating a cabin like feel on the interior and a hobbit home aesthetic on the exterior. Due to the reduction/depletion of labor cost, Simons Dale constructed his home for 3000 pounds and it took him only four months to complete the work.  The materials that were used are all of local origin, and some of the materials that were utilized were harvested on the property itself, accruing no cost at all! Because of the natural processes used for material gathering, this home is very environmentally friendly, with a very low impact or foot print on the environment. The roof surface that you can see in the exterior picture shows you that the roof is constructed of earth.  This is a very energy efficient way of conserving light and heat.  Providing natural insulation to the interior space, this roof system with helps with decreasing any HVAC usage, and helps maintain the homes natural heat absorption.
Mr. Dale, his wife, and their two daughters reside in the home. The floor plan is very simple but the structure itself is very unusual and irregular.
